Tonight, (during “Criminal Minds),” various famous quotations were used after segments & at the end…*to give emphasis to profiling prowess. The final one was “When one looks into the abyss a long time, the abyss will look back into you”…I forget who the hell said that now, as the previous quote had been Winston Churchill, “You must look backward to be able to look further forward”….or something close to that. Anyway, I turned around for a backwards hint of future forward & stared right into the back of my Lay-Z-Boy recliner chair, - ...beige upholstery.
What could this looking one way or the other for wisdom have to do with furniture, -other than the obvious,… -not being able to see the TV. *Or, any stuff in front of you. Then it occurred that Churchill meant for people to look mentally back, insight, -recall the past. Hindsight? Not sure on that. Suddenly the words, “…Are forced to relive it” loudly interfered with whatever thought process had begun…-I headed back to square one to figure out the point of looking at anything. What could it all mean? “Keep eye on opponent” popped into mind, *-with a “pop” sound too. Eyeballs, lit up like floodlights, were rolling around inside my head searching the brain. It was like a thought prison break upstairs, a gumball machine revolt. Party in the County Jail let's rock... The rearview mirror Meatloaf song was running around like a streaker… “Watch for Falling Rocks”? uh--who said that?! Isn’t that a road sign? Old beige chair fabric must be an insight in retrospect, -an omen to point the right way to go maybe. “His eye is on the sparrow, & I know He’s watching me”…. Oh Shit. Hell damn rat's ass. Busted thinking again.
...What could it hurt now? -took a peek ahead…forward, -a small thought into the very near future, like “should I do the dishes?” In brief, it was certainly not looking like a mansion is being built for me anywhere. Best to just watch TV, it’ll show me what’s the best way to look at everything. Does everybody realize this yet? Or, ….do some human beings that stare at walls do it for help…
Looking forward to knowing what this is about…. Maybe Churchill was saying “when you are in the middle of an abyss during a huge World War…...--------------”
